Demotivated

Happy CNY to all of u :) Have been really busy wif cny cookie orders that i have no time to blog at all. So sorry.

My PME course came & go, selina came back 3 weeks back, & next week would be her last week here... :( CNY passed with a flash, and i promised my parents no more fooling around after CNY. This time, i really need to start sending out my resume. IT was forecasted that Malaysia will feel the delayed effect of the economic crisis after CNY.. -_- Dem pressured, & dem worried i cant secure a job. & i til today i still do not know whether i want to take up audit or just do plain accounting or work in a bank or in investment firms. After all of the horrifying stories i heard from ppl from the audit line, im thinking twice about taking up my CPA. If given a choice, i would rather complete the other 2 PME course & sit for my Masters -_-

Anyhoooo... just realised that there r lots of ppl out there who r not aware that custom made cakes r slightly more expensive thatn secret recipe cakes. They think that custom made cakes is cheap. I need more of customers who appreciate my art work. After all, im spending up to 8 hours DECORATING just one cake,YES THAT'S HOW LONG IT TAKES. All my fugire models r done by hand, NO MOULDS. Sometimes it's really frustrating when ppl wan really really elaborated designs but when u tell them the price, they will say it's expensive -_- I guess the Malaysian market is not well informed. After all, ppl wan cheap & nice things, who doesnt?!?!

Really hope to kick start my business ASAP. I mean it's already rolling off, but parents r not supportive of wat i like to do. They think i will not be able to earn a living out of this. Only a secured office job can do so... rite. My teacher told me do not give this up, cos his parents didnt like that he quited his job as a CFO many yrs back & started baking & doing wedding cakes. But look at where he is now!!! He shall be my inspiration :)

Sorry, lots of ranting i know :P but it's my blog after all! bleak!

PME Professional Course in Sugarpaste

Two days of my course has passed. I have met & learnt so many things & gotten lotsa tools essential in doing a decent looking decorated cake (i only had a pizza cutter and 2 artist paint brushes b4 this). Met really nice ppl all in the cake industry, all doing so well in wat they r doing! So inspired but at the same time intimidated -_-

They taught me about costing, & i realised i am way way undercharging my cakes. My 2tier hula bday girl cake could have easily be sold for more than rm350.... -_- YES i am not lying!! Shame on me to graduate as an accounting student & im not doing my costing & pricing right! U ask, y so expensive?? Cos of the time amount of time spent & also due to the designs on the cake, plus the hula girl decoration.

Anywayz, im the noob among the 5 students, cos all the other four ladies are ALL selling wedding cakes or plan to venture into wedding cakes, cupcakes or teach lessons from home.. My instructor is superb, very good teacher, the wedding cakes he make r gorgeous. & i was told paris hilton ordered cookies from him just last month.. He even made the sultan of brunei or was it selangor's cake WOW.

Money in baking industry is very lucrative, especially if u r able to do wedding cakes. They can fetch pretty high prices... Very very high prices for the art work u do.

I had 2days of classes in a row from 9 to 5 plus i only got to sleep for 3 hours last nite, so im pretty tired right now.

Hula Girl Birthday Cake

One of Ai Lin's fren's bday was just ystday. She was sweet enuff to let me do her fren's bday cake for her :) Was rather stressed out as i didnt really know how to decorate the cake, & i rarely work wif buttercream as icing.. normally i will use fondant as it's more stable in our malaysian weather. As it was a cheese cake underneath & it needs to be in the fridge, i cant use fondant.. -_- Fondant cannot be kept in the fridge!! It will "sweat" lol meaning it will be wet & sticky la.. :P

First it was decided to be a round 8 inch baked cheese cake with a hula girl ontop, but changed my mind, & told ailin a 2 tiered cake wif the hula girl ontop will look better. & here's the results, & glad that the bday girl liked it :)

The result of the stacked cakes, which i was quite happy wif :) As i couldnt stack the cakes at home, i didnt know how it will look. Cos each cake by itself looked rather plain..... :P i know i complain alot, bear wif me, i like my cakes perfect :P

I really liked how the hula girl turned out! the small flowers r oh-so-cute on her skirt!!! But i think the skirt will look better if each strip of green was thinner, it will look more realistic :P

Happy Bday Shooks! & it was a challenge since it was my FIRST time writing a birthday msg on the SIDE of a cake... -__- glad it turned out good. Had fun doing the cake, thanx ailin once again :)


I am bloody exausted cos i've been baking pineapple tarts from 2pm til 10pm at nite........... -__-

BUT, tomorrow is the first class of my PME sugarpaste course :D Happy happy joy joy. I'll graduate wif a diploma :) Will post pics on wat i did in class in the next post ;)

Happy New Year!!!

New Year New Resolutions!!! I musn't be so lazy, I musn't leech off my parents, I must GET A JOB!!!!! :P Looking at the current economy state, & it was even forecasted that the economy condition will be even worst, i need to secure a job quick. Yeap, right after CNY that is. Cos I have so many CNY cookies orders, that i cannot afford to slack. On the average i need to bake at least, 5 containers of cookies each day to finish baking before cny.. -_-

Remember about the diploma course in sugarpaste that i mentioned in the earlier post? I will be attending :) It in smacked in the middle of Jan, so i need to multi task & to plan my timing properly.. omg. However, im dem bloody excited!!! Now, i am demmmm tempted to complete the other courses & be a certified instructor.. ...... ... ..... .... but i don't know how the thing works, so... i can dream on -__- As if my parents will allow me to continue studying after spendin a bomb on my tertiary education...

Pet&You end yr party cake, i had a hard time covering the cake with fondant. the horror!!! -_- but quite pleased with the result.. but not 100% satisfied... i liked the doggie on the cake. dem cute, but it magically disappered... -_-

This cake was for dogs' consumption!! :P Loved the deco, lol Just found it a bit sad when we humans r busy partying & eating good food while the dogs sit & watch, so i baked thema cake for the yr end party :p

Pink & Black fondant cake

Like i've said in the earlier post, this week has been rather hectic for me cos i have a number of cake orders to fill. My mum conveniently told me that my cousin will be having a bday party thingy on fri. I automatically offered to make her a cake of course :p LOL I managed to squeeze in some time to prepare the deco for the cake a few days in advance, and to bake my cousin's cakes today when im suppose to bake 2 chiffon cakes that ppl ordered -_- and another 2 cakes on fri. & i'll be dedorating the cake on fri as well.. hectic & tiring.

Rather stressful, but yet i enjoy doing it, cos i am doing wat i like best :) Came up with a design after surfing the net for some inspirations. The colour is set, pink & black.

I love looking at 2-tier cakes or stacked cakes cos they look oh-so-pretty to me :) I then decided to make a stacked cake. This is my first time.. I was worried that the cake below can't take the weight of the cake above. Went surfing the net again, & found out that they have some sticks inserted into the bottom cake to support the weight of the cake above. Imagine if I had just stacked the cake.. disaster, it would sink!!! o_O

How naive of me to think that the cakes were just stacked onto one another without reinforcements... :p

Both of the cakes will chocolate cakes, with strawberry jam filling. Something different la rather than just choc cake wif choc fudge filling.

Wow... i officially hate using black fondant. It is so bloody hard to colour a piece of white fondant to black.... -_- i kneaded and kept adding black colouring on the fondant for a good 15 minutes... not to mention it stains ur hands too *&@^@%#$@$^*

I know there r black fondant available but i dunno where to get it! & even if i can find it, i don't think i can afford to buy since it'll be expensive :p

Anywayz, hope both the deco & the cake will turn out great. I love working with fondant :) Will post pics after i've finished assembling & decorating. Be patient for now :p

I was reading posts from my old blog & realised how silly & immature i was few years back. Always complaining bout the smallest problem and blogging out all that i felt. Wow, i've grown so much. I no longer like blogging about my deepest thoughts, and about my frustrations and anger. I rather keep things in my head & think to myself & solve problems in there. No point rite writing everything here & accidentally piss ppl off? Or haf ppl say that im such a emo person. Oh well, wat ever it is, problems no longer bother me as much as they do the last time. Im looking at things with an open mind nowdays, no matter wat it is :) maybe it's time for a change, maybe it's not, only time will tell.

Say CHEESE..

Over the weekend, I've baked in total of 2 cheese cakes. One was the oh so famous coffee & cheese cake.. yes, Tiramisu. The other was an order from my cousin, blueberry cheese cake.

Honestly, i have not made both of those cakes before.. :p the tiramisu turned out pretty good, but the cake layer was was too soggy... -_- but the taste is just right!! I added something extra, some chocolate pieces in addition to the cocoa powder.

Here is a pic, I know i suck at presentation part :p tired to deco deco a bit to make it look better, didnt turn out very ncie, but who cares? :p as long as it taste good rite? Quality over the looks is my motto for making cakes :) but of course it's better if the cake would taste & look good la :D


Interested to make tiramisu? Watch this video, i took the recipe from Youtube. Her recipe is better than the rest, cos she don't use raw egg yolks. The cake itself is not too sweet as well. A recipe worth trying.




I really dunno how the blueberry cheese cake taste like, this is the first time made one cos it was requested from my cousin. He apparently loves blueberries. I am selling the cake at rm48. Pricey, but this is becos the ingredients itself is so dem expensive!! butter, the biscuit for the base, the cheese, the blueberry!!! Must ask him how's the cake. I have not taken a pic of the cake.. so be patient la, I will post it when i snap a pic ;)

On an unrelated topic, congrats to randall for getting 3rd in the Tropicana Bowling Masters 2008 yesterday. When belanja?? :p I went and support u ok!!! lol

This week will be a busy week, I have so so so so so many orders for the orange chiffon cake (so far i've sold more than 30 of this cake), batik cake, butter cookies and a normal chocolate sponge cake o_O

Boobies anyone?

This would be my second time in using sugarpaste to decorate a cake. This was inspired after i saw some pics in facebook, it's a girl who had a dick cake for her bday. LOL

Since it was bryan's bday, & he is a guy, & oso ham sap to some extend, i decided to make a cake wif a girl's body together with her boobs! Well, a half naked chick la to be precise :p

Im quite delighted with the results, since i have no experience in decorating cakes wif sugarpaste.. Just a bit of experience in MIB, but they did not teach us much on decorating.

We brought the cake to the restaurant, & he was told to lick the boobs.. LOL Mat Salleha walked pass us & laughed at him, calling him titty boy HAHAHA

Even the waiters can't help but to smile everytime they walk pass our table.. LOL

Wat's new in my life? Nothing much la, i wrote in to Kurnia Insurans, they didnt reply. But now most probably will start work in a SME near my house in feb or end of jan provided they wanna take me in la. it's my dad's colleague's bro's company. The pay is quite goood for starters, so... hopefully i get in =)

& i will be attending PME Professional Course in Sugarpaste come January YAY-ness!! :) My dad actually didnt really object to my surprise... only my mum made noise -_- Wedding cakes here i come =))))))))

I experimented with a cake recipe just yesterday, it's called batik cake. It called so, becos the biscuit bits in the middle of the cake makes it look like batik or something.

Wow, the cake is so so so so so so so moist & not forgetting chocolatey... heavenly :) a success!!!!
